is this you?

You're capable and conscientious – often the person others rely on – and yet a quiet voice keeps asking whether you're really doing a good enough job.

You can describe exactly what a steadier, healthier version of you would do. You just can't seem to feel your way into being that person.

Your sense of being okay rests on approval, achievement, or staying in control – and somehow it never quite settles, however much you get done.

And you've started to notice the cost: tiredness that sleep doesn't fix, wins you can't take in, a version of you that shows up for work but rarely feels like all of you.

You're not broken, you're evolving

The very things that made you successful – high standards, reading the room, carrying responsibility, thinking three moves ahead – began as a good strategy. Somewhere along the way they stopped being a choice and quietly became the only way you know how to feel safe.

So you push a little harder, people please a little more, grip a little tighter, or shrink a little smaller. And it works, a lot of the time.

You end up knowing exactly what you should do, and still not able to feel your way into doing it. More willpower and another good self help book don't touch it, because knowing was never what you were short of.

That gap between knowing and feeling isn't a flaw in your thinking. It lives in your body, in a nervous system that learned to read pressure as threat. That is the ground we actually work on.

You're not broken. You adapted. The work isn't about fixing what's wrong with you. It's about updating a strategy that has outlived its usefulness, so that steadiness comes from the inside rather than seeking it externally.

What Changes Through Our Work Together:

You gain clarity on what matters now. Not what should matter, or what used to matter, but what currently supports your energy, judgement and direction.

You learn to integrate rather than compartmentalise. Instead of being "work you" and "personal you," you discover how to be more yourself in all contexts.

You develop confidence in your own decision-making. Your analytical strengths are no longer a source of paralysis. You trust yourself to make timely decisions even in complexity

You discover how to honor your values consistently. Rather than feeling torn between different aspects of yourself, you learn when and how to express your full range of qualities.

I'm Joanna

I understand what it feels like to be successful on paper but quietly questioning whether the way you're working is sustainable.

My route into coaching began through my own experience of navigating responsibility, pressure, and change and realising that achievement alone doesn't guarantee clarity or steadiness..

For over 20 years, I've worked across public health, wellbeing and leadership development, supporting individuals and organisations through periods of sustained demand.

My Background

I've led multi-agency networks of 600+ professionals, developed trauma-informed approaches across healthcare, criminal justice and education sectors, and trained 1000’s of professionals in Compassionate Leadership.

This work taught me something important: the most successful leaders aren't those who push through at all costs, they're the ones who understand how to work with pressure and personal limits, rather than against them. .

My academic background includes an MSc in Conflict Resolution and Mediation (with Distinction) and Level 7 ILM accreditation in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring. But what clients value isn't just my credentials it''s the way the work is held.

My Approach

I prioritise evidence over trends, grounding our work in neuroscience and research rather than the latest fad.

I understand how stress shapes thinking, decision-making and relationships, because I've spent years studying it and working alongside people living it.

I'm not here to unsettle you, but to help you align your strategies with the realities of your role. In today's workplace, emotional intelligence isn't optional – it's essential for good judgement, adaptation and leadership under pressure.

Through coaching, I help you move from automatic reaction to considered response – creating clarity, steadiness and sustainable impact.

Words from Happy Clients

2026 Price List

There are two ways in, depending on who's investing.

Real change isn't an hour here and there. It's a held piece of work, with room to ground, see, feel and embody – so I work in programmes rather than one-off sessions. Most people start with fortnightly sessions over three months.

Self-funding

If you're backing yourself:

A short, focused programme – 3–4 sessions over 6–8 weeks – from £360

The core programme – 6 sessions over 3 months, fortnightly – from £720

Extended renewal – 8–10 sessions over around 6 months – from £960

A community discount is available for people working in charity and public-service roles.

Organisation-funded

If your organisation is investing:

A short, focused programme – 3–4 sessions – from £750

The core programme – 6 sessions over 3 months – from £1,500

Extended renewal – 8–10 sessions over around 6 months – from £2,000

Organisational Offer

Alongside 1:1 coaching, I design and facilitate away days, reflective practice and leadership development for teams carrying a lot – particularly in the public, charity and public-service world.

Each piece is built around your people and what you're facing, so it's shaped in conversation rather than bought off a shelf.

If that's what you're looking for, let's talk.

Every programme includes the sessions themselves which are usually 60 minutes long, and voice-note and email support in between. Written reflective summaries after each session are available as an optional add-on.

How coaching with me works

The Four Stages - Steady from the Inside

 1. Get grounded – we settle the nervous system, so we're not trying to solve things from a state of threat.

2. See the pattern – we name the thing under the thing: what you're really keeping safe, and the strategy you've been using to do it.

3. Feel the shift – we move it from something you understand to something you experience, working with the body and not only with talk.

4. Embody it – we make the new way repeatable under real pressure, so it holds after you leave the room.

This is deeper than performance coaching and more directed than talk therapy. We use the depth – the body, the patterns, where they came from – but we don't stay there. Every part of it points forward, at how you show up next week, not just why.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me  at joanna@game-changer.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question or concern.

I work in programmes rather than one-off sessions, so we have the room to do real work. Most people start with fortnightly sessions over three months.

Typical options:

  • A short, focused programme – 3–4 sessions over 6–8 weeks
  • The core programme – 6 sessions over 3 months
  • Extended renewal – 8–10 sessions over around 6 months

Every programme includes the sessions (usually 60 mins) themselves and voice-note and email support between them. Written reflective summaries after each session are available as an optional add-on, and organisation-funded work can also include light progress touchpoints with a line manager. We'll shape the right fit in our initial call.

Coaching and therapy overlap, and I won't pretend otherwise. The difference is direction: therapy often works back through the past; coaching takes the same honesty and points it forward.

I work with depth – including how pressure and past experience shape present behaviour and how they  live in the body – but always in service of how you want to lead and live next. If what you need is therapeutic or clinical support, I'll say so plainly and help you find it. That honesty is part of the work, not a caveat to it.

This depends. If you are engaging in coaching yourself and are paying for it, you can choose the areas to focus on. If the coaching is being supported or organised by the organisation, it is likely that you will be expected to talk about work related issues. However, there is often flexibility within this. And even if talking about work related issues, it is likely that there will be a personal element to them (i.e. your feelings, your strengths, your beliefs.)

Many of my clients choose to share that they're working with a coach - it demonstrates their commitment to excellence and models continuous learning for their teams.

The relationship between coach and coachee is quite personal, and just like any relationship, sometimes the chemistry isn't quite right - and that's completely normal and OK.

For coaching to work, it depends on trust, openness and a sense of connection. If after a session or two you're feeling that we're not clicking, or that my style doesn't work well for you, please do tell me. I won't be offended or hurt - in fact, I'll respect your honesty. We can have a conversation about what might work better, or whether it would be more helpful for you to work with a different coach.

Sometimes what feels like a poor fit is actually just the natural awkwardness of getting started with something new. But sometimes it really is about different styles, personalities or approaches. I've been in situations myself where I've worked with people who were perfectly competent and well-meaning, but we just didn't gel.

If we do decide that you'd be better suited to working with someone else, I'm happy to help you think through what kind of coach might work better for you, and if I can, to suggest some alternatives. The most important thing is that you get the coaching experience that will be most valuable for you.

There's no commitment beyond trying a session or two and seeing how it feels. Your coaching should feel right for you.

Ethical Commitment

Coaching should be both effective and ethical.

I don’t take your trust for granted and it is a non-negotiable.

As a member of the Institute for Leadership and Management, clients who are coached by me, can expect complete confidentiality, and honest feedback. I will never recommend services you don't need or extend coaching programmes unnecessarily.

Our work together is guided by professional coaching standards, but more importantly, by a simple principle:

I treat my clients the way I want to be treated, with respect, transparency, and a genuine commitment to your growth.
